Tips & strategies
Make room for the next move
A block puzzle is partly a space-management problem. Before choosing a placement, inspect both the space it uses and the space it leaves behind. Open areas that can accept several shapes give you more options than a board divided into tiny pockets. When pushing is involved, check the return route first: a block against an edge can be much harder to recover than one in the middle.
A useful next attempt
Compare two placements before committing. If both satisfy the immediate objective, prefer the one that keeps the next move flexible. When a plan fails, identify the first irreversible move and try a different order on the next attempt.
In Square Bird, inspect both the shape you are placing and the gaps it leaves. Preserve an open area that can accept more than one future piece. Treat each attempt as a small discovery. Notice the question, route, or pattern that surprised you, then use that observation on the next attempt.
